The Difference Between Stump Grinding and Total Removal
Leaving a stump behind invites wood-boring pests, creates a constant tripping hazard, and sends suckering regrowth across the lawn for years. Our dedicated stump grinding service chips the timber down 8 to 12 inches below topsoil grade, converting the trunk into organic mulch that can be raked in place or hauled away. For sites that will be re-built, re-fenced or replanted in the exact same footprint, we recommend full extraction instead.
Complete Tree Stump Removal & Ground Remediation
We offer two clear paths. Standard Stump Grinding quickly mills the trunk and surface roots below the turf line, leaving a clean depression ready for topsoil and seed. Deep Tree Stump Removal performs full structural extraction of the trunk and the major root plate — essential anywhere a concrete foundation, post-set fence line, or new tree will sit directly on top of the old stump.
High-Power Grinding Fleet for All Property Dimensions
Our equipment scales to the site. For commercial lots and large estates we deploy track-mounted self-propelled grinders that chase oversized hardwood stumps in a single pass. For tight residential backyards we bring compact, handlebar-steered machines designed to fit through narrow gates without damaging stone patios, interlock paths or garden walkways.
Eco-Conscious Wood & Mulch Reuse
All grindings are either left on site as a mulched cap, redirected into composting programs, or repurposed into landscape mulch — turning what was an obstacle in your yard into a productive ground cover.
In Ontario's climate a mature hardwood stump can take 7 to 15 years to break down on its own. During that window it becomes a prime breeding ground for carpenter ants, termites and wood-decay fungi that often migrate into nearby living trees, decks and even the framing of your home. A one-day grind-out eliminates that risk for good.
How deep do you grind the stump?
Standard grinds remove the stump 8 to 12 inches below grade — deep enough for fresh sod, seed and shallow planting. For foundations, decking posts or replanting in the same footprint we recommend a full root-mass extraction.
Will the grinder damage my lawn or patio?
Our compact track-driven grinders are sized to enter through a standard 36-inch garden gate and roll across turf and interlock without scarring it. We lay protective matting on sensitive surfaces and rake the work zone clean before we leave.
